Frequently asked questions
- Which devices are supported?
- iPad running iPadOS 17 or later. Apple Pencil and finger input are both
supported.
- How do I make my own worksheet?
- From the library, tap Custom Sheet. Give it a title, then search
by reading or meaning, or paste kanji directly. Reorder by dragging.
- Are JLPT level lists official?
- JLPT has not published official kanji lists since 2010. Kanji Kaku uses one
widely used community list; see the in-app Credits screen for the source.
- Is my practice ink saved?
- No. Ink is intentionally cleared when you leave a sheet — each session is a
fresh practice. Your worksheet definitions (which kanji are on a sheet) are
saved locally.
- What does Kanji Kaku Pro include?
- A single one-time purchase (no subscription) that removes ads, unlocks
the N3, N2 and N1 templates, and lets you build unlimited custom sheets.
Free users get one new custom sheet per session and the N5 and N4 sets.
- I bought Pro on another iPad — how do I get it here?
- Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases belong to
your Apple ID, so sign in with the same one you used to buy.
- Why do I see an ad, and why does the app ask to track me?
- The free version shows one small banner at the bottom of the screen,
limited to general-audience ads. On first launch iPadOS asks whether the app
may track you for more relevant ads; if you decline, ads still show but are
not personalized. Buying Pro removes ads entirely.
- Does the app collect any data?
- There are no accounts, and your worksheets stay on your iPad. Three
things do leave the device: purchase verification for Pro (through
RevenueCat, under an anonymous identifier), advertising requests in the free
version (through Google AdMob), and anonymous crash and performance
diagnostics that help us fix problems. None of it includes what you write or
practice. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
- Can I export or print worksheets?
- No, practice happens on the iPad screen and saves paper!
